Hello I’m Jessica Amir, a market analyst with Bell Direct.

Today we’re going to look at how you can find stocks with huge spikes in trading activity using Bell Direct’s unusual volume tool.

Now volume is the number of trades placed.

So when you see out of the ordinary volume or trades placed, it simply tells you that something pretty significant is happening with a stock, so you might like to pay attention.

Now once you’ve logged in head to the ‘Research & tools’ tab, in the drop down menu select ‘Unusual volume’.

You’ll see the stocks trading higher after unusual volume and stocks trading lower because of unusual trading volume as well.

Now the list shows you stocks with large increases in volume compared to their average 50-day average volume.

In this case, you’ll see the stock’s code, its last trading price, how much its shares have gained today, the volume which is the amount of trades and the volume increase today and if you click here, you’ll see why the shares are gaining so much momentum and it’ll take you to its recent ASX announcement.

The same applies to when you click on the drop down ‘Unusual volume’ tab here.
